Responsibilities of a Teacher

Teaching is regarded as a noble profession. In Malaysian society, people usually look up to teachers, especially kids. They seem to think that whatever the teachers say is right, even sometimes teachers get it wrong. The profession itself is maybe not as glamorous as doctor, engineer or architect, who pay lucrative salary but it is a teacher who helps in shaping a child’s future. The demands for teachers in Malaysia are still high, especially for critical subjects such as English and Mathematics, and the government is working hard to make sure that the demands are met.

Teaching is certainly not an easy profession. There are many challenges to be faced as a teacher, especially for new and inexperienced ones. Some may end up being successful teachers, while some may settle for the average. The process of teaching itself can be difficult. They must be resilient, patient and willing to accept these challenges in order to become good if not best teachers and serve their purpose.

Good teachers transmit their passion for the subject onto their students in an interesting, clear and concise manner, generous with their advice and guidance. They are able to identify students’ weaknesses and able to plan a strategy to assist them with it. The responsibility of good teacher must not give false advice but a constructive and accurate one. Teacher is always responsible for not only students of the subject, but also responsible for education in the country. Teacher means teaching for expressions. And most of all, the perfect teacher, is the teacher that doesn’t think he/she perfect.
